First Aid at Work

First Aid at Work (FAW) 3 Day Course –

This First Aid at Work Course runs in accordance the the HSE Guidelines for First Aid in the workplace. The course is designed for employers or anyone who would like to be a registered First Aider within the workplace.

FAW certificate will last 3 years and then a 2 day refresher course is to be completed in order to keep the certificate valid for another 3 years. The FAW course will run over 3 days or can be split over 3 weeks of training. Throughout the FAW course practical and theory examinations are conducted.

  • Understand the role of a first aider
  • Manage a casualty who is unresponsive but breathing normally
  • Manage a casualty who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
  • Choking
  • Burns and Scalds
  • First Aid Kits
  • Control of Bleeding and internal bleeding
  • Managing Incidents
  • Recording & Reporting
  • Defibrillator user training
  • Head injuries
  • Major illness
  • Spinal injuries

In order to complete the course, candidates must show competent practical demonstrations as well as an understanding of how to recognise major illnesses and injuries. Candidates must attend the full course for certification.
